First Method: Enable Wi-Fi hotspot during driver software installation
Turn on both your computer and printer. Since this HP hotspot-enabled printer doesn’t require a CD installation, you will need to directly connect it with your computer using the USB cable. Wait for Windows to detect the printer and automatically install driver software for it. Follow the on-screen prompts and wait until the driver software is installed. When done, your Windows computer will prompt you to continue with the installation procedure and turning on the HotSpot & Direct Print feature.
On the HotSpot & Direct Print Configuration window, click Enable HotSpot & Direct Print> Next.
On the next screen, select a security mode from WPA/WPA2 (maximum security level: recommended), WEP (moderate security level), and Disable (no security, not recommended) options and click Next.
On the next screen, select your Internet connection type from the given options viz. Dynamic IP, PPPoE, and Static IP and click Next. Follow rest of the on-screen prompts and complete the installation. You will now see a summary of all the current settings on the screen.
Second Method: Enable Wi-Fi hotspot post-installation of HP driver software
Make sure that both your computer and printer are turned on and connected with a USB cable. If you are using Windows 7/Vista, click Start> Programs> HP. On the next screen, you should see your HP printer listed there. Right click the printer and select Wireless Configuration. If you are using Windows XP, click Start> All Programs> HP.
On the Wireless and HotSpot & Direct Print Configuration Utility, choose HotSpot & Direct Print> click Next. Choose Enable HotSpot & Direct Print and click Next.
Choose a security mode on the next screen from the given options viz. WPA/WPA2, WEP, and Disable and click Next. Follow rest of the on-screen instructions and complete the installation. When done, you will see a summary of all the current settings on the screen.
