To help fix your HP printer driver problems, you can follow these easy steps given below. You may like to perform one step at a time to check whether the issue has resolved or not.

Step 1:

The driver software is a zip file whose contents need to be extracted to the root drive C:\ to be able to run it. If you don’t extract the file contents you will not be able to install your HP drivers. Extract the file contents to an easy location like Desktop and then run the installer with admin permissions. Follow rest of the on-screen prompts and install the drivers.

Step 2:

If you are unable to install the drivers despite having extracted them, you may like to disable the real-time scanning feature in your antivirus program. When disabled, run the driver software file again with admin permissions and the installation should then progress peacefully. When done, you can turn back on the real-time scanning feature in your antivirus program.

Step 3:

If the driver software continues to give trouble even after disabling your antivirus program, you may want to update your Windows or Mac computer with the latest software updates. Updating operating system has observed to do the trick for many. If you are using Windows, you can update Windows from the “Start” button, “All Programs”, “Windows Update”. Provided that you are using a Mac you can navigate to the “Apple” icon and then “Software Updates”. Install all the required updates except HP printer drivers. Your machine may require a reboot after the installation of updates.

Step 4:

If the problem persists, uninstall the existing driver software and the HP services also. Reinstall your HP printer along with the latest drivers. You should be able to successfully get your HP printer working after installing it and the drivers.

Step 5:

If you are using Windows 8 and are unable to find install drivers and get your HP printer working, you can install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode. Doing so will help you get your HP printer working with your Windows 8 computer with Windows 7 drivers.

Step 6:

If you are unable to find the drivers for your Windows 7 computer you can go to “Devices and Printers” from the Start menu, select “Add a printer”, and then select “Windows Update” at the bottom.
